the Ravalli County Sheriff Office - Montana Accountability in Law Enforcement WATCH..

Recently, a "large sum of ammunition" was stolen from the Ravalli County Sheriff Office. This shows that the deputies of Ravalli County cannot be trusted with justice, safety, or protecting citizens of Ravalli County.

Here is the Ravalli Republic article from around July 7, 2009:
Notice how it says IF prosecution is carried out,
it would be done by the Attorney General's Office

Ammunition stolen from sheriff’s office
by MICHAEL MOORE -

for the Ravalli Republic State and local authorities are wrapping up an investigation into the theft of ammunition from the Ravalli County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Chris Hoffman sent out a news release Monday that noted only the slimmest of details about the investigation. Hoffman said a “significant amount of rifle and handgun ammunition” was taken from his department. He declined to provide any other information about the theft. John Strandell, chief of investigations at the state Department of Criminal Investigations, said his agents have been working in Ravalli County for a couple of weeks. “We were asked by the sheriff to investigate the theft of ammo from Ravalli County’s armory,” Strandell said. “We’re basically wrapping our case up now and will be presenting it to the prosecutor’s office.” Strandell said the ammo was bought by the department for training and duty use. He said the theft was not the result of a break-in at the armory. “I can confirm that it’s not a burglary,” Strandell said. In such cases, the thefts generally are internal. The prosecution, if there is one, will be handled by the state attorney general’s office, Strandell said. Reporter Michael Moore can be reached at 523-5252 or mmoore@missoulian.com

  1. Don't be quick to condemn the department or the sheriff. It is probably the work of one or two bad eggs. You should move east and see what real corruption is like in law enforcement. Montana has some of the most fair police in the USA except for Vermont.
